Sonic Adventure 1 gave 6 characters with unique play modes and was designed to show off what the Dreamcast could do. Sonic Adventure 2 cut the game modes by half and gave a good and evil character for each game mode.

Heroes, while built from Adventure 2 has very little in common with either Adventure. Shadow is the same really. Unleashed does steal from the Adventure series, Hub levels, Humans and upgradable Sonic, but plays differently enough. Whereas all you would need from Sonic 06 to call it Sonic Adventure 3 is Chao Garden.
