Feb 9, 2017 · Hi, I'm an Avast Free Antivirus user on Windows 10 64-bit. When I open Avast it closes itself after 1 or 2 seconds with no apparent reason. I've already submitted a ticket on Avast official website, but it's been more than an hour and no one has answered me yet.

Adding the websites and folder to exceptions and disabling shields doesn't do anything to fix this problem either, so those features are entirely useless it seems.

Now that I have upgraded to AVAST 8 It seems that Avast mail scanner in blocking i/c and o/g mail when the SSL scanning check box is ticked. If it is unticked or if the Mail Scanner is shutdown, then Thunderbird works fine.
