The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom started out as a dungeon creation game, it’s been revealed. In an Ask the Developer interview published on Nintendo ’s website, it’s also been confirmed for the first time that the Switch game was developed by long-time partner studio Grezzo.

Echoes of Wisdom marks many firsts for the almost 40-year-old Legend of Zelda series - one of which is the director herself. As discussed in Nintendo's recent Ask the Developer volume featuring the new game's leads,

Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom didn't start out its development as one might expect, with a very different direction initially planned for the title.

Echoes of Wisdom is compatible with a wide range of Amiibos, which can be used to unlock special items within the game.

Echoes of Wisdom is nearly upon us, bringing about the first new 2D Zelda game in over a decade. Starring Zelda as its protagonist, Echoes of Wisdom’s gameplay primarily revolves around conjuring creatures and objects previously discovered in the world.
