Mashable reached out to Sony to find out whether the company expects the PS5 Pro to sell out quickly at launch since initial availability is limited to one retailer, and if it had any plans to avoid inventory shortages. At the time of writing, we hadn't heard back.

PlayStation Direct will be the only retailer taking pre-orders today (the lone exception will be the DualSense 30th Anniversary Edition, which will be available at “participating retailers), so make sure you have a PlayStation Network account set up (and if you don't go make one, right now), and then follow our live updates.

Only 12,300 units of the special edition PS5 Pro will be available at launch. As with the regular PS5 Pro, pre-orders for this version will commence on Thursday, September 26 via PlayStation Direct. Sony is keeping the price under wraps until it goes on sale.
