Mario and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto says Nintendo isn't chasing AI because the company always wants to "go in a different direction."

Decades after Miyamoto invented Mario and Zelda, he explains what makes Nintendo special and its transformation into a global entertainment brand.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has said the company would rather go in a “different direction” than the rest of the video game industry when it comes to generative AI.

Miyamoto said Nintendo's ambition is "trying to find what makes Nintendo special." He added: "There is a lot of talk about AI, for example. When that happens, everyone starts to go in the same direction, but that is where Nintendo would rather go in a different direction."
