Drivers on the M25 face every motorist’s worst nightmare after a lorry fire- a huge queue that could take two hours to navigate. The lorry caught fire this morning near junction J6 Godstone on the clockwise carriageway of the busy motorway in Surrey.

National Highways has warned motorists are facing up to three hours of delay on the M25 in light of an incident.

Delays of about 55 minutes had also been affecting traffic travelling westbound on the M26 leading up to the M25 at junction five. Surrey Police said it was made aware of the lorry incident at about 01:30.

A man has died after being hit by a lorry as he stood on the hard shoulder of the M25 near the Dartford Crossing in the early hours, police have said. The road has been closed between Junction 29 for the A127 and Junction 30 at the A13 after the incident on Sunday which involved a lorry and two men.
