According to CSU, fuel rate prices are expected to be higher during colder months, compared to current prices, due to increased demand. Officials say if the city council passes it, gas and electric rates will increase on October 1st by 3.5% or $8.71 more per month.

Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) is proposing electric and natural gas rate increases due to increased demands during colder months.

The utility company expects to add another $3.7 billion in additional improvements between now and 2030. That’s just in five years -- to compare, in its first century, the company has built and maintained about $5 billion in system assets. The company also foresees reducing its carbon emissions by 80 percent by the start of next decade.
