Southern California's football program has been fined $50,000 and placed on probation for one year by the NCAA because of multiple violations of coaching staff rules over two seasons. The NCAA and USC announced Tuesday they reached a settlement in the case.

The USC football team has been put on probation and fined $50,000 for violating NCAA rules, the NCAA announced on Tuesday. The program had eight analysts involved with coaching activities during spring and fall of 2022, and spring of 2023. That is more than the program is allowed to use, and that is what violated NCAA rules.

USC coach Lincoln Riley exceeded the number of staff members allowed to act as coaches and was sanctioned by the NCAA, the organization announced.

As if his third year at USC wasn’t already tumultuous enough, Lincoln Riley is now on probation.
