MOORHEAD, Minn. — A 34-year-old hunter was shot in the head near Moorhead on the first day of Minnesota's firearm deer season. The Clay County Sheriff's office says deputies and state troopers were called to a rural area just northeast of the Fargo-Moorhead metro area at about 8 a.m. on Saturday

There was a second, unrelated hunting accident that resulted in a hunter being shot north of Perley in Norman County, which is also in northwestern Minnesota. The 37-year-old victim in that incident suffered a single gunshot wound around 11 a.m. Saturday and was taken by ambulance to a Fargo hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The first happened just before 8 a.m. in Clay County. The second happened three hours later in Norman County.
