GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A national furniture chain with multiple stores in West Michigan is shutting down after its parent company filed for bankruptcy. American Freight’s parent company Franchise Group, Inc. on Nov. 3 commenced Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, according to court documents.

Franchise Group, based in Delaware, Ohio, is the parent company of American Freight and other stores including Vitamin Shoppes.

Store closing sales have begun in-store and online, with discounts of up to 30% off the lowest ticketed prices.

A furniture and appliance retailer is closing all of its stores following the bankruptcy of its parent company.

American Freight, a furniture store with locations in more than a dozen states, is closing all of its 328 stores including the one in Evansville.

And the latest furniture news comes from American Freight, a national retailer that’s shutting down all of its stores, as its parent company, Franchise Group, continues Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. American Freight has a dozen stores in North Carolina, including one in Raleigh.

DALLAS — A furniture store is closing all 300-plus locations across the country, including seven in DFW. American Freight, an Ohio-based furniture store chain, has locations in Carrollton, Mesquite, Allen, Dallas, Grand Prairie, Arlington and Fort Worth, according to their website.

A longtime north country furniture store will be closing its doors soon. Morrison’s Furniture will be closing up shop after over 100 years in business. The Factory Street location had a sign on its window saying “Inventory Liquidation: Everything Must Go.
