Finebaum said Notre Dame must play a near-flawless game to have a shot at an upset win. Given the way the Buckeyes dominated Tennessee and Oregon in their first two playoff games, he could see the championship game similarly. To add insult to injury, not only did Finebaum expose the SEC, but he also tipped his cap to Ohio State coach Ryan Day. Finebaum had long been critical of Day's lack of success against Michigan but gave him the benefit of the doubt after leading the Buckeyes to their first title win in a decade.
