COLUMBUS -- Elvis Merzlikins made 40 saves, and Sean Monahan had two goals and an assist when the Columbus Blue Jackets ended a five-game skid with a 4-2 win against the New Jersey Devils at Nationwide Arena on Thursday.
The New Jersey Devils lost 4-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night. The Devils put on a show offensively, more than doubling Columbus’ shot total, but a few turnovers and Elvis Merzlikins’ best performance of the season cost New Jersey two points in the standings.
The Devils were pushing hard to start the second period, recording six shots in the first four minutes of the middle frame. However, Columbus would score again, nine and a half minutes in on the power play. With traffic in front Zach Werenski’s shot got through giving the home team a 2-0 lead.
