Officials say that a boil-water advisory in Virginia’s capital will remain in place at least until Saturday morning.

Richmond Mayor Danny Avula is holding a press conference Friday morning in which he plans to address updates on water service, the city water treatment plant, tests of the water and preparation ahead of the expected winter storm.

Richmond Mayor Danny Avula shared Thursday that all nine zones served by Richmond’s water system are fully pressurized, and that the boil water advisory could be lifted by Friday or Saturday, pending water quality tests.

Now that pressure has been restored, Hanover and Henrico counties and the City of Richmond all say they expect to remove a boil water notice sometime Saturday.

The City of Richmond has announced that it has passed its first water test on Friday as part of the necessary steps to lift the city's boil water advisory, which remains in effect.
