The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and officials from the Turks and Caicos Islands have launched probes into SpaceX's explosive Starship rocket test that sent debris streaking over the northern Caribbean and forced airlines to divert dozens of flights.

The FAA grounded SpaceX's Starship pending an investigation into the failure that caused the rocket to break apart midflight. The regulator noted in a statement that it has received "reports of public property damage on Turks and Caicos" islands in the Caribbean.
