Controversy swirling around a North Carolina Republican candidate for governor is generating political turbulence in a hotly fought swing state that's a must-win for Donald Trump. The BBC asked conservatives there what they make of the alleged scandal.

The political world is still reeling from a CNN report that the Republican candidate for North Carolina governor, the current Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, posted racist and explicit messages on a pornography web site message board a decade ago.

Robinson, a Donald Trump endorsed right-wing candidate, was reported by CNN's Andrew Kaczynski and Em Steck to have called himself a, "black NAZI!," supported the reinstatement of slavery and said that he preferred the leadership of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler over then President Barack Obama in 2012,
