Approximately 15.5 million Americans have been or currently are on injectable diabetes or weight-loss medications known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, including the popular name brands Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound.

Wegovy is a GLP-1 agonist containing semaglutide, the same active ingredient as Ozempic. While both medications share this ingredient, they are approved for different purposes. Ozempic is primarily used for managing type 2 diabetes, whereas Wegovy is specifically approved for weight loss.

GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy have had a transformative effect for those struggling with weight loss. Many celebrities have joined the ranks of those who swear by the medication, including Josh Gad, who opened up about his experience for the first time this week.
