Police say 35 people were killed in Zhuhai, China, when a driver rammed his car into a crowded sports center a day before the city hosts a military air show.

Police in China say 35 people were killed and 43 injured after a driver struck a crowd in the city of Zhuhai.

Authorities in southern China said the attack took place at the airshow where top Russian official Sergei Shoigu is expected to attend.

The Chinese military hardware on display at the country's largest air show in Zhuhai illustrates its ambitions, and in some cases may show breakthroughs in capability, experts say. Among the systems showcased were the latest variant of China's J-35A stealth fighter,

As the J-35A joins the J-20 in Chinese service, China becomes the second nation in the world to operate two different fifth-generation, stealthy fighters. The only other country to achieve this is the U.S., which flies the F-22A Raptor and F-35 Lightning II.
