WEBJan 26, 2022 — If you have a LinuxLive or other bootable USB, you could try booting those and see if they can access the Seagate USB drive. The fact that both your Windows 10 and Windows 8 can't access it leads me to conclude it's best to return it and get a replacement.

WEBSep 18, 2019 — The drive in the link is USB 2.0. I believe that the cable is USB A to USB Mini B. A Micro USB 3.0 cable would not work. My possible confusion is between mini and micro USB. What idiot decided to make the two similar but incompatible plugs, I'd probably best never find out.

I'm unable to find any "Safely remove" option, and at one point when unsafely removing I got a blue screen. The tray. Nothing there. Running "rundll32 shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll", and the drive does not show up there. Looking in device manager.

Once the drive gets connected it is blinking for 20-30 sec. and then goes to sleep. This happens on different Notebooks and on a Desktop - all Win10.
