Might be an issue with the disc itself, try cleaning it with a soft cloth.. and also delete the game data for the game (game > game data utility > gta v) and then boot up the game again. If this doesn't work take it back to Gamestop inform them of the issue so they don't put it back on the shelf and get you a difference copy.

That being said, I have yet to receive any news/emails since late 2011 when I joined the GTA mailing list so I too am starting to question the quality of the list.
